About STL

STL Semiconductor and the BG Ndegwa CNST is the first of its kind advanced Nano-technology and Semiconductor laboratory in Kenya and indeed in Africa. The CNST is a first-generation materials sciences facility offering scientific innovations targeted for Semiconductor, Agri-technology, Biotechnology, Energy, and any other large verticals. We aim to be the catalyst for cutting edge R&D innovation, intellectual property and proof of concepts for the Semiconductor and related industries. We will spawn off a new generation of innovators culminating in a compelling workforce suitable for large chip manufacturers. Our ultimate goal is to franchise numerous nanotechnology and semiconductor labs in Kenya and the region. These labs will eventually attract large chipmakers to set up manufacturing facilities locally and consume our raw domestic raw materials. This will be an economic gamechanger and a huge job creator for our citizens.

Sputtering and Etching Technology

STL primarily utilizes Ion Beam Technology for our sputtering and thin film etching processes. We also have Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD), Chemically Assisted Ion Beam Etching (CAIBE), Compositional Nanotechnology and alloys, Direct Vapor Deposition. With these sputtering and etching capabilities, and production grade equipment helps us meet the needs of our global partners

Analytical Tools

STL boasts a compelling list of analytical tools for electrical and materials characterization. With this equipment we can study and measure the growth morphology and performance of these valuable semiconductor films. Our tools are also able to measure organic and inorganic materials.

Extreme Ultraviolet (UV) Semiconductor Masks

As we exceed Moore’s law, the need for smaller and smaller nodes in microelectronics has become a major bottleneck. STL has the technology to develop the next generation of photomasks. These masks allow companies to print smaller and smaller circuits on semiconductor wafers.

Integrated Circuit (IC) Failure Analysis

As microelectronics become more complex, it is increasingly difficult to detect failures in the device. Conventional means are very time consuming and seldom result in good results. The semiconductor industry demands very high yields to make commercially marketable electronics. STL has developed technology that detects these failures at an atomic scale. Our technology directly impacts the bottom line in these companies by providing a quality assurance method that can be employed in the production lines.Hello this

Device Level Cyber Security and Anti-counterfeit technology

STL has technology that can deconstruct integrated circuits in the IC level. With this technology we can detect counterfeit electronics or embedded cyber exploits. The Bloomberg article explains a very insidious cyber exploit that can be solved with STL technology.

Josephson Junctions

STL has technology that can be employed in superconducting Niobium based switches. The commercial value of this program is very compelling.
