Our Focus Areas
We aim to be the catalyst for cutting edge R&D innovation, intellectual property and proof of concepts for the Semiconductor and related industries. We will spawn off a new generation of innovators culminating in a compelling workforce suitable for large chip manufacturers.
The semiconductor industry is a large industry with a supply chain estimated at over USD 550B (2022) and estimated to grow to USD 1T by 2023. It spans many different technologies and vertical businesses. STL designs equipment and solutions that address several critical areas of semiconductor chip processing.
On December 19, 2022, STL launched the first advanced Semiconductor Processing machine, Ol’ Borana, that was designed and built in Kenya.
STL adds values to silicon wafers and manufactures devices that address a host of applications. The resulting semiconductor technology is used in memory devices, storage devices, sensor technologies, imaging, etc. These devices support diverse range of industries including aerospace, automotive, computing, Biotechnology, IoT, Agritech, and communication (ICT).
STL excels in research and development in material Science and Nanotechnology. Our R&D stakeholders include the Kenyan government, global semiconductor partners and academic institutions e.g., Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (Kenya), MIT, Penn State, University of Maryland, etc. STL seeks to create partnerships and innovations that will focus on solving challenges of global concern like climate change, energy crisis, economic/wealth gap, diseases and pandemics, and food security
STL has very unique products that address supply chain security, mainly focusing on anti-counterfeiting technology and forensic sciences. Our goal is to help mitigate risks associated with the supply chain by identifying and analyzing vulnerabilities in the internal functions of microchips
