Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) Convention
Day two of the 5th Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) Convention was a success for Semiconductor Technologies Limited (STL)! Our Managing Director, Dr. Tony Githinji, took the stage for a session titled: “Manufacturing and Value Addition for National Prosperity.” Dr. Tony’s presentation not only showcased STL’s innovative work as Africa’s pioneering semiconductor company, but also explored the critical partnership and ecosystem we’ve built with the host university, DEDAN KIMATHI UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY (DeKUT). He emphasized how STL is uniquely positioned to address Africa’s challenges and create substantial value addition. The session was highly interactive, with Dr. Tony outlining our ambitious goal: capturing at least 1% of the $1 Trillion Global SEMI Market by 2030. He achieved this by strategically focusing on the rising demand for logic chips within Africa. Furthermore, the discussion delved into market opportunities across Africa, including the mineral value chain, climate solutions, and the green economy. Dr. Tony also unveiled STL’s exciting roadmap for expansion, which includes establishing five fabrication plants (fabs) within Kenya and potentially venturing into other African nations. This participation in the Engineers Board of Kenya Convention highlights the crucial role engineers play in Africa’s development and in expansion of industries such as our own. Being a panelist at such an event allows STL to contribute to the conversation and inspire future generations of engineers to shape a brighter future for Africa.
